The 4th March was a big day for our racing women at GRC. All the winter training came together for one of the biggest events of the rowing calendar – Women’s Eights Head of the River Race.

The eight women boated at 2pm and made their way to the start where the wait time before racing was well over an hour. Starting position was 196 out of 320 crews, a solid starting place for a Small Club, and the women raced fantastically for a finishing position of 184 and a time of 22.38.9. Really well done!
A huge thanks to all our supporters who braved the freezing weather, Cygnet rowing club for hosting us, Caitlin for driving the trailer with some questionable directions, Jess for providing the jelly babies and our junior Matilda for stepping in and up when we needed her the most!
A shout out to one of our current university rowers and experienced freshers, Lucy Gibbons, who is currently rowing for Lady Margaret Hall Boat Club with a finishing place of 227 and a time of 23.22.1.
